After 30 years as a paralegal, I followed my dream of becoming a teacher. I received my teaching license from Fort Lewis College to teach Spanish, which is a language and culture that I love. I discovered my passion for teaching English as Second Language (ESL) during my educational journey. I received my master's in education with an emphasis in Linguistically Diverse Education (formerly ESL) in 2012. I am presently a part time adjunct professor of ESL at Colorado State University in Pueblo. My international students are from many different countries and cultures. I enjoy every minute of my job. My education has been remarkable and I have many different strategies to teach diverse groups. I look forward to assisting students to reach a level of proficiency in English.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have my teaching license in Spanish and English as Second Language. I taught English as Second Language at a Pueblo High School from 2006-2009. For the next couple of years, I decided to continue my education and received my Masters Degree in Education with a specialty in English as Second Language. I graduated with a 3.75 GPA (grade point average). I am presently teaching ESL at a high school and a middle school. Teaching ESL is my passion. I love to work with students at all levels of English proficiency.

Having had the opportunity to live with a family and be immersed in a Spanish school in both Ecuador and Mexico has been the most rewarding way for me to improve my conversational Spanish. Practice, without being perfect, has significantly increased my skill and confidence in my own personal goal of learning Spanish.
