Hi there! I have been a teacher for over 20 years, and I love what I do! I have a current teaching license, and I am certified to teach k-6 students. My recent education from Benedictine University has allowed me to receive my Master's degree in reading and literacy. I am hoping to become a reading specialist with this degree. I have learned many strategies and techniques for getting students to see their full potential and progress in comprehension, vocabulary, writing, phonics, and fluency, just to name a few. During my program, I was fortunate enough to tutor a kindergarten student in reading. After assessing, diagnosing, and implementing strategies to fit her needs, she moved up one whole reading level in just a matter of 10 weeks, roughly 10 hours of instruction. It was so gratifying being able to help her with her reading struggles. We really formed a special bond! Aside from tutoring in reading, I can also be of great help in math, science, and social studies. All of these content area subjects share something that I have a passion for... reading! I feel confident that I could help your student grow and close the achievement gap, so that s/he can feel successful within their classroom!
