Hello! (Konnichiwa!) My name is Ayako! I am a native Japanese speaker from Tokyo, Japan. For the past decade, I have acquired vast experience teaching the Japanese language to various clients in the business, travel, and educational fields. I have studied both in Japan and in the United States and have completed various college degrees.
While growing up in Japan, I taught non-Japanese people all levels of the Japanese language, varying from entry level to advanced level skills. I also have extensive experience in translation and interpretation of the Japanese language for a wide range of clientele. I have a unique but successful and enjoyable method for teaching a difficult subject and have proven feedback. I love to teach others about my Japanese heritage, language, and culture and have been quite successful. If you are interested in learning the Japanese language and culture at a descent price, please do not hesitate to contact me.
My tutoring style is very adaptable to your needs. I am very open and capable of utilizing my materials or yours. My personal goal in tutoring is getting rid of the stereotypes of the difficulties in learning the Japanese language. I am very patient and seek to make learning my native language fun and an enjoyable experience

One of the strong points about Ayako teaching is providing Socratic feedback and forcing me to think and find answers myself first. She uses this technique wisely, e.g. when I don't know a word she usually gives an answer, but for grammar questions I have to find answers myself.
My son says she is amazing! Very effective and helped him so much with his Japanese lessons. Excellent tutor who was very accommodating last minute.
When I started my search, I was having a difficult time finding tutors who were native Japanese speakers. I really wanted my continuing studies to be with someone who could give me insight into the proper phrases and most commonly used translations. Ayako sensei has provided those things and more.
I have been with Ayako sensei for over a year and have seen an incredible improvement in my Japanese. She is patient and takes time to fully answer my questions and makes sure that I understand her answers. She frequently checks in with me to make sure that the lessons are geared towards what it is I want to learn. She offers very helpful study aids to use in addition to the books that we work through in our sessions. She also keeps me apprised of Japanese culture related events that are going on in the area.
I highly recommend her!
We took the opportunity to meet Ayako ahead of time and she never mentioned that she would be taking a two to three month leave of absence in April 2013. I am frustrated that my son has only had two lessons and we will now have to find a new tutor. We should have been told by Ayako at the time we met her that this would be the case.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
