I am the semi-retired CEO of an engineering company, that has developed science instruments for universities, aerospace companies and the U.S. Government. I have been a Project Manager and Engineer for aerospace companies and performed Research and Development as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Air Force. I have mentored students at the University of Colorado, Boulder in support of their class projects for space research. I enjoy working with students and providing them with real world perspectives on how their studies can relate to actual life challenges.

I have found that concepts presented in the course of conventional academic study are often difficult for students to visualize in the context of their own experiences. They have told me that my ability to provide practical examples of applications for syllabus material has been very helpful to them in enhancing their understanding and mastery. Their appreciation when the "light dawns" is quite satisfying for me.

I have extensive experience in Astronomy, Optics and Mechanical Engineering gained through working as a telescope and instrument developer for Universities, the U.S. Government and in my hobby as an amateur astronomer. This work has required a thorough understanding of basic science, physical science, engineering and the practical mastery of related disciplines such as technical writing, machining, fabrication and field installation.

I hope to have the opportunity to pass on the lessons I have learned in the course of a lengthy STEM career to help students master their course material. Please contact me so that we can discuss how I may assist you in preparing for future success.
