I am a Student in the University of Southern California online master of education program MAT@USC. This program requires a multiple dimension understanding of education with a full focus on the learners. I believe in the interactive (with emphasis on the active part) nature of learning. The critical points require social interaction and support to achieve mastery. Your culture is important to understanding how the world around you functions. When learning is a huge challenge, it usually means you need a different approach to the material. It is critical that students are able to question and ask about the material for exploration. These are essential thinking skills and important for life as a whole.
In order to help you learn the material, I need to know about you. What do you like or not like? In what kind of environment do you learn best? What are your favorite skills? Why do you want a tutor? What are your goals? These are fundamentals that help tailor a program.
Physical activity is also important to learning. Keep your body healthy and your brain will love you. Make the world around you as much like your best learning environment. Ask questions. Find out unusual details. Talk to someone who has been through similar difficulties and come out fine; their strategies might help you, too. But most of all ask. Ask why something is that way. Ask for the first step. Ask for an example. Ask for additional information. Ask why the material is important. Then you have guidelines for learning. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have studied costume design and couture sewing techniques as well as design. I have a lifetime of sewing experience and a love of creation. If you learn to sew with me, you will not only learn techniques but the theory and practice of applying them to your current project.
I have a BA in Theatre and ten years of practical experience. I have worked with a number of performers, professional and amateur, in a variety of venues. I understand staging, stagecraft, acting, collaboration, costuming, lighting, sound, wardrobe, direction, production, stage management, properties, history, literature, and box office.
