Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design (Art Education)
Hello, my name is Carrie. I am interested in tutoring students levels K-12 in the content area of visual arts. I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design and attended the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, Maryland. I have a vast background in art and have worked as a freelance artist in the Denver mountain area and as a middle school art teacher in Jefferson County. Through my experience as an art teacher, I have a background in developing plans to reach a specific objective, public speaking skills, and installation skills. I have experience in selecting artwork and researching current artists, art types, art history and art activities. From my background as a freelance artist and as a visual arts teacher, I maintain a professional and safe work environment. I use a variety of learning strategies to help the development of student learning and portfolio preparation for students interested in attending art school. With my art background I have the knowledge to tutor students interested in painting (oil, watercolor and acrylic), drawing, figure drawing, nature drawing (pencil, caracole, pin and ink), fibers/textiles (hand sewing, machine sewing, patterning, silk screening and basket weaving), book making, color theory and art history. Depending on the tools accessible to the student and tutor I also have the knowledge to tutor, jewelry (beading and metal working hot or cold connections) and ceramics (hand building and wheel throwing). All art-making materials are the parent or student's responsibility. Safety Release forms will be required prior to tutoring. I would love the opportunity to be able to further your student’s knowledge in visual arts.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
