Teaching ESL (English as a Second language) is my passion. After taking a graduate course in teaching ESL at Boston University, I began teaching and have done this for more than 30 years. I taught in Russia at the Volgograd Politech Institute. In Venezuela, I taught in many private schools and in the Ministry of Public Works. I gave private classes to people of different ages and taught in the Central University of Venezuela. In the United States, I have given private classes, and formed my own group English classes under my company name, KOMTOC International Information Services.
I graduated from Boston University with a major in English and Linguistics. I have a Bachelor degree in Metallurgical Engineering, and a Masters in International Management. I am able to give classes to those who want to specialize in Business English or Scientific English.
I also published a book, "Business Success Through English" for intermediate and advanced levels of ESL. I have prepared students to pass the TOEFL exam and to pass high school English tests in Venezuela.
I taught English at the American University and Marketing at Phoenix University Online. I have been a member of Toastmasters, learning the art of public speaking. My main reason for getting into public speaking was to ensure that my classes would be really interesting and exciting.
My classes are fun and entertaining, and I can adapt the class to whatever the student's needs are. I also like to incorporate an understanding of American culture within the context of the English language. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a Masters Degree in International Management from The American Graduate School of International Management and experience as an Instructor in Marketing, Sales, and Business with the University of Phoenix Online. My work experience includes starting up my own businesses and a position as Director of the American Business Center for the Department of Commerce in Volgograd, Russia.
I took graduate courses in teaching ESL (English as a Second Language) while studying for my undergraduate degree in English and Linguistics at Boston University. I have taught ESL to students of all levels and all ages. I had my own ESL school in Caracas, Venezuela. I taught in Russia at the Volgograd Politech Institute in Volgograd, Russia, at the Central University of Venezuela and in many schools throughout the world. I have more than 30 years of experience teaching English to non-native speakers of English.
I can tailor the classes to anyone's situation and I can prepare you for the TOEFL exam or any other English exam that you may need to take. I am able to give English classes for business or scientific work. I have a Masters Degree in Business and undergraduate degrees in both English and Metallurgical Engineering.
I have been a member of Toastmasters International for about ten years where I have received the Advanced Toastmaster Gold award and won many speech contests. I attended seminars on public speaking and took acting courses at Lasell Junior College in Boston and at the Museum of Fine Arts in Colorado Springs. I have spoken at International Conferences and Symposiums and have also prepared speeches for others. In large classrooms, I have taught a number of subjects and my goal has always been to present material so that it is interesting and exciting. I have also conducted training workshops for sales people, and once I was invited as a guest speaker to talk to small children. The children were completely spellbound by my presentation.
