Bio

I have 5 semesters of TA experience in Complex Variables, Multivariable Calculus, Calculus 1, and Markov Processes, Queues, and Monte Carlo Simulation at the University of Colorado Boulder Department of Applied Mathematics, all with excellent student reviews. In addition, I passed all PhD course requirements, doing especially well in Markov Processes, Mathematical Statistics, and Numerical Analysis.

A Wyzant tutor is highly worthwhile: It's 60% the cost of in-state tuition if you're meeting weekly with me, plus you get personalized teaching at your own pace with a lot more time to relax and have fun.
Here's the cost breakdown:
Average in-state tuition = $7500/semester
Weekly tutoring = $20/hr x 5 classes x 3 hr/week/class x 15 weeks/semester = $4500/semester

In addition to my math and programming background, I am fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese, graduated from BoHua Chinese School in 2008, and studied abroad in China for 2 semesters.

I am a believer that no question is a stupid question, knowledge is more important than degrees, and a good teacher can make all students succeed. By tutoring I give students not only answers, but also the tools to find the answers themselves.

Subjects

Computer

MATLAB,

MATLAB

As an undergraduate in applied mathematics/physics, I used MATLAB in various classes and projects: GEEN 1300 Intro to Engineering Computing, APPM 2360 Differential Equations, APPM 3010 Intro to Nonlinear Dynamics and Chaos, Peking University Mathematical Modeling, APPM 4650 Numerical Analysis 1, PHYS 4230 Thermodynamics and Statistical Mechanics, APPM 4350 Fourier Series/Boundary Value Problems, and APPM 4840 Independent Study simulating the Shallow Water Equations. As a graduate student at CU Boulder/BioFrontiers, I used MATLAB for mathematical biology research simulating differential equations modeling PINK1-Parkin mass action dynamics, as well as a class project simulating differential equations and performing image processing for MAPK signaling pathway experiments. I am an expert scripter and debugger.
Python

Python

As a graduate student at CU Boulder/BioFrontiers, I applied Python in my research simulating, calibrating, and making predictions based on real data for a Markov Chain model of CRISPR-Cas9 genome modification. I also debugged and applied Gabriel Krummenacher's Fast Johnson Lindenstrauss Transform (FJLT) code on Github for a music genre classification project. I am well-versed in the standard Python libraries numpy, math, matplotlib, and scipy as well as sklearn, openpyyxl, pandas, and statsmodels. I am an expert scripter and debugger.

Corporate Training

Chinese,

Chinese

I graduated from BoHua Chinese School in 2008, studied abroad in China at Peking University (Spring 2010) and Tsinghua University (Fall 2011), and took Mathematical Analysis with the Chinese students (earning GPAs of 3.25 and 3.83). I am fluent in English and Chinese reading, speaking, and writing. I enjoy reading Chinese classical works, traveling in China and the US, and keeping up with the latest technology and social media of both.
Statistics

Statistics

I passed my probability/statistics prelim and graduated with my MS Applied Mathematics from the University of Colorado Boulder in 2016.

Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

I have 5 semesters of TA experience at CU Boulder, where I taught recitations for Calculus 3, held homework help sessions for Complex Variables, and held office hours for Markov Processes. I have a solid foundation in mathematics through the undergraduate level.

Super friendly, organized, and knowledgeable

My 7th grader is really enjoying his Chinese lessons from Viktoria. Only two lessons so far, but she is great! We asked her to organizing a long term plan of lessons and recommend text books for us. Highly recommended!

High Level Math Help

Victoria is extremely knowledgable in math. She helped my son, who is in college, get ready for his statistics exam. She had less then 24 hours notice. I would definitely recommend her.
