As a tenured professor at UCLA I have taught the best and brightest, including medical students. My doctorate in Learning and Behavior (a sub-specialty of psychology) provided excellent training in the scientific method, clinical skills, and critical thinking.
I also have years of experience with children and adults with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental delays.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I was a Research Psychologist and Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA for many years. I have two distinct areas of expertise. First, I am an expert in autism spectrum disorders. I have provided parent training, consultation to schools, and in-depth assessment services to individuals, districts and social service entities. Second, my own research was on the psychobiology of acute and chronic stress. I am interested in identifying reliable biomarkers of PTSD and non-clinical symptoms of health-exacerbating anxiety symptoms.
As a tenured professor with an active research lab, I used SPSS daily not only to teach students how to examine data, but also to analyze my own data and that of other collaborators. Major National Institute of Health grants awarded to me and my colleagues required full understanding of research design, data management procedures, and statistical analysis of findings. Presentation of data in graphical form is also critical for conveying results in a compelling and clear way. Knowing how to develop syntax for SPSS also allows for continuity of analysis procedures across time and different team members.
