I genuinely believe that anybody can master (and enjoy) basic mathematics if given a suitable guidance. Getting a private tutor happens to be the quickest way to get such a guidance.
I have been a Teaching Assistant and campus math tutor for two years at CU Boulder campus while earning my Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Physics. My journey at CU Boulder was in every way incredible, and I would love to help yet another student to enjoy college experiences without academic struggles.
I noticed students struggled, because they have gaps in their math background, which prevent them from succeeding in more advanced classes. This is why I enjoy tutoring students in middle or high school level. The mistakes are easier to correct, the topics are quicker to catch up when they are still in middle or high schools.
When tutoring, I believe in inspiring students by providing a bigger vision on the topic and helping them get motivated and develop learning habits, so that in the long run, they become more independent learners with solid study skills.
I have a math college degree and extensive teaching experience both in K-12 and college level. I passionately love math, and teaching math is a genuine pleasure of mine.
Alongside teaching math, I love to give a career advice. I genuinely care about my students' personal struggles and their cultural and socio-economic backgrounds (especially for minority groups and women in mathematics). I would do my best to encourage the positive voice inside you and help you develop an attitude that would help you succeed not just in one class, but in career in math and science. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I completed two courses in differential equations - ordinary and partial both. Differential equations were used extensively in all my upper-division physics courses. My research project in infectious disease modeling was based on systems of differential equations model. i think through these experience, I have more than enough knowledge to teach/tutor most high school and undergraduate differential equation topics.
Discrete mathematics is gateway course to higher level mathematics (beyond calculus and differential equations). One starts to learn about natural numbers, integers, and rational numbers and a couple of formal proof techniques come with these knowledge - mathematical induction and proof by contradiction, which really are a starting place to develop more advanced topics in pure maths, such as real numbers, hence calculus. I have a degree in pure math.
