I have worked in schools for 10 years and am branching out to provided the extra one on one assistance most students who struggle in schools need. I specialize with Pre-K through 6th grade and work with students who need support with their language skills (sentence structure, grammar and vocabulary), phonemic awareness and phonics (skills needed for reading), including spelling and writing and, of course since I am a Certified Speech Language Pathologist I also work with students on their speech sounds. I believe in a fun learning approach to keep the student's attention, while providing them the support they require. Parents are welcome to sit in on and join in our sessions if they so choose.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

They learn that when reading, the definition of a word can be different depending on the context. They find that they can quickly learn new words.
