Hello, my name is Danice, I am currently an Assistant Manager at a retail pharmacy. I love what I do mostly because I get to coach and develop my employees, however my true passion is in education. I love to be the student as much as the teacher. I currently have my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a certificate in Criminal Justice from Colorado State University. I also have my Master of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of Colorado in Denver. I have taught an undergraduate level Introduction to Social Psychology course at CU-Denver and loved it. I also tutored juvenile delinquents with their studies as well as teaching them how to transition back into society by learning everyday tasks such as balancing a checkbook.
My instructional and teaching methods include giving students a questionnaire to fill out so I can get a better idea of who they are and how they learn best. I also like to utilize real world examples, mini assignments, small homework assignments and creative self expression. I prefer to be constructive rather than critical in the redirection of students' understanding on each topic. I like to use what they do know and understand to help build a foundation to build on the areas they are struggling in.
I would really like to tutor you or your child in order to help you reach your educational goals. Thanks for your time and consideration. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
From an educational standpoint, I don't have a degree in career development, but during the completion of my Bachelor's degree I completed an Internship at Turning Point Youth Group Home. A large part of my job was to rehabilitate these youth in a manner in which they could transition back into society. The biggest part of their development that I was responsible for was career development. As a store manager, I coach career development everyday with my employees.
I completed the certificate program in criminal justice at CSU during the completion of my B.S. in psychology. I also completed my master's thesis on women in prison, and in doing so I utilized lots of criminal justice research and theories in order to properly write my thesis.
I am qualified to tutor sociology, because I completed my master's degree in this area of study. During completion of my master's degree, I also taught an Introduction to Social Psychology at the undergraduate level.
