About Alex

Teaching is what I do! I have TAed multiple classes and taught dozens of students piano and STEM topics. I tutor students in all math categories, physics, chemistry, biology, and others, as well as teach piano! I only teach concepts that I'm completely fluent in, however, so you always get the absolute best instruction possible!

For STEM teaching, I have tutored over 2 dozen students and helped many achieve great results. I have tutored students in math ranging from Prealgebra to Calculus III, chemistry, and physics. I have helped students score better on tests (30% improvement for a student!), achieve grades they wanted (A in the class for one of my chemistry students) and prepare for tests (ACT, entrance exams, etc.) I have a Master's degree in applied physics, graduated Magna cum Laude, and was a National Merit Scholar Semifinalist. I scored a 35 on the ACT and am fully prepared to help you master your math/science classes! I have also TAed college classes in Nuclear Physics and Differential Equations wherein I helped plan course curriculum, graded work and assisted students during office hours for help on homework and course material. I work with my tutoring students online or in person. I have taken nearly two dozen college-level in science and math and am fully prepared to impart this information to my students!. I help them complete assignments and homework, practice concepts and problems, prepare for tests and quizzes, and even provide supplementary lectures to help them with concepts that are not clear from class teachers! I also write my students practice materials, which means that you can be confident and prepared come test time since you've already done practice problems similar to the test!

I also teach piano. I have been playing piano for over 12 years and retrained from scratch in the Taubman Technique a few years ago to play with ease and effortless musicality! I finished in the top 4 in the Littleton Symphony Orchestra Piano Concerto Competition and attended one of Denver University's summer academies for piano performance. I have taught piano for over 5 years and showed tons of students how to play the instrument, incorporating these concepts into their playing as well. I have students of all experience levels (from book-work to Debussy, Beethoven and Liszt) and have taught people according to various goals. I work with students through playing pieces (from books or individually), practicing reading, music theory and proper technique to make playing easier and less strained. I work with you on your individual goals and help develop a plan to best help you meet them so playing the piano can be musical, easy and enjoyable!

Thanks for checking out my profile and feel free to send me a message! Schedule a lesson with me to see yourself improve in your topic of interest as you work with someone who is very experienced in helping you get the best results!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Composition (Music)

I have taught piano for over 5 years and as a result, have assisted students in working with music theory. I also played trumpet for 8 years and performed 1st chair in both wind ensembles and jazz bands. I have taken college-level classes in music theory, music composition and arrangement, and music history, and have composed music for ensembles ranging from piano solo to jazz band to full orchestra.

Differential Equations

I graduated Magna cum laude and obtained my Master's Degree soon afterwards. Physics is heavily based in Differential Equations including the heat equation, Schrodinger's equation, the Dirac equation, and others, and as a result I have worked heavily in working with and solving differential equations. I even TAed a Differential Equations class at my college in which I worked on content planning, grading and teacher assistance!

Linear Algebra

I graduated Magna cum Laude and acquired my Master's degree soon afterwards. I have taken a course in Linear Algebra in college and work with students in all math topics often. I also use these concepts frequently in physics in the form of differential matrix equations, vector wave functions and particle physics equations, so I'm more than prepared to help you master this topic!

Piano

I have been teaching piano for over 5 years and playing for 12! I have retrained in a thorough piano technique from square one which specializes in proper motion, musicality and efficient playing and I impart these principles into my students' playing to help them achieve their musical goals. I attended the Lamont School of Music Summer Academy for Piano Performance and was a top-4 finisher in the Littleton Symphony Orchestra Piano Concerto Competition!

Knows subject matter and explains it well

Alex tutored my son in AP Physics which can be difficult subject matter to break down. He answered questions in a clear manner that my son could easily understand.
