About Cody

My motto is to take the work seriously, but don't take yourself seriously. I believe laughter facilitates learning! I have used my laughter-and-learning style to help tutor students in robotics, computer programming, computer science, math, and physics. I love seeing the "a-ha!" moment when someone gets both the concept and how to apply it. I have also helped people with public speaking and even life coaching, so I know how to meet people where they are with compassion while helping them to get where they want to be.

I have been programming computers since 1990 at the hobby level, along with eight years professionally. I have a degree in Computer Science from a top level school, and have done occasional contractor work. My work experience includes web development, training simulators, mobile software, desktop software, video games, and machine vision. I have worked in C, C++, C#, Visual Basic, VB.NET, PHP, Python, Lua, Javascript, Java, ActionScript, HTML, CSS, and LabVIEW.

In addition, I have mentored several people from their first computer program all the way up to working professionally. I've taught robotics to first graders, mobile game development to adults and high schoolers, and even 3D printing for an up-and-coming engineering student.

I started producing videos before digital editors were available, so I had to learn how to take good shots the first time. I can help you learn the basics of video production, including lighting and sound. I can help even more in the editing arena, as I have experience in Sony Vegas, Adobe Premiere Elements, OpenShot, and Blender (free). My specialty is using free software to achieve excellent results.

I look forward to hearing from you and helping you learn while laughing!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Knowledgeable and brings enjoyment to learning

Cody, tutored me through the installation (python3, django, sqlite3, and a virtual environment), session set up, project development with multiple apps with diverse logic. Great tutor and easy to work with. Helped me not only with my immediate material but also concepts and techniques to build a better foundation. Highly recommend.
