Trained as a professional teacher, I have a passion for teaching, and my students have followed me wherever I go. They have benefited by gaining new confidence at work and excelling in their careers. The students have been very well motivated in my classes by my teaching methodology wherever I teach. Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Chinese

I started to teach Chinese as a second language back in 1994 at The Educational and Exchange Center, Yunnan University. I taught summer program students from University of Columbia, University of Oxford, University of Hawaii, University of Vermont, University of North Carolina, who came to Kunming, Yunnan, China for their summer programs. I was also a full time Chinese language teacher at The Educational and Exchange Center, Yunnan University. In my regular Chinese language teaching, I taught students from all over the world. In 1997, I got the scholarship as a visiting scholar to go to University of Denver. From 1998 to 2000, I was a Chinese instructor at Modern Languages Department, University of Colorado at Denver. From 2008 to 2009, I was a Chinese language teacher at International School of Louisiana.

Through these over twenty years of teaching Chinese language, as you will see from my attached resume, I have extensive experience teaching and using languages in a variety of different venues. I have taught large classes and one-to-one classes through the years in my teaching career both in China and America.

Trained as a professional teacher, I have a passion for teaching and my students have followed me wherever I go. They have benefited by gaining new confidence at work and excelling in their careers. The students have been very well motivated in my classes by my teaching methodology wherever I teach. For example, when I was teaching at University of Colorado at Denver, a professor at Metropolitan College asked me to give her daughter tutoring classes for one month and half before her daughter went to Stanford University, because she got the scholarship from Stanford University. I also gave private Chinese classes to a professor at Anthropology department and another professor at one community college here in Denver.

My philosophy in my teaching method is to pay great attention to students' individual differences, and give them fair chances to develop their potential.
