Russian is a challenging language, but learning it can be fun! I majored in Russian at Middlebury College in Vermont, I studied at Pushkin Language Institute in Moscow, and I was a graduate student and Russian instructor at Georgetown University. I have over 20 years of experience as a professional translator and interpreter.
Learning Russian has taken me to many interesting places. In addition to traveling all around the former Soviet countries, I interpreted for President Bill Clinton at the White House, I have the "voice of interpreter" on CNN, C-SPAN and network news programs, and I have had the chance to meet and interpret for presidents, cosmonauts, human rights activists, and many other interesting people.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I majored in Russian in college and have spent over three years living and working in Russian-speaking countries. I have many years of experience as a professional Russian translator. When I lived in Washington, D.C., a few years ago, I was a successful freelance interpreter, working for television networks, international institutions, and the U.S. State Department. During this time I was also an adjunct instructor of Russian at Georgetown University for a semester.
