I am a native Korean who was born and grew up in Seoul, S. Korea. I majored in English and English Literature in my undergraduate with the national teaching license in S. Korea, and acquired my masters in Cultural Studies in England. I came to the US in 2011 following my American husband. My English is very good, native-like, although I have a slight British accent (It has been fading away, though).
I taught English at a public high school in S. Korea for about 4 years and have a lot of experience in cross cultural contexts, including language exchange, mediating between ESL teachers and Korean school authorities. I helped personally many American friends of mine for translating while I was in S. Korea, as well.
I am privileged to have met (and am still meeting) so many wonderful students of all age and cultural backgrounds since I came here and began teaching Korean to Korean learners as a second language. Many of these students became my long time clients because they are very satisfied with the quality of my lesson, and some of them became my good friends. My lesson is highly efficient, well-planned and organized, learner-centered, communication-oriented, adjusted to diverse individual needs and learning styles.
I am nice, sincere and try to make people comfortable. I am an efficient teacher as well as a good friend. I personally spent a lot of time teaching my own husband Korean so he could communicate with my family. I am so excited to meet you and explore the interesting world of Korean language together in the most relevant and communication-oriented way. I am a native Korean who was born and grew up in Seoul, S. Korea. I majored in English and English Literature in my undergraduate with the national teaching license in S.

Saehee is absolutely amazing. Not only is she an expert on Korean language and culture (something that is not always true even from native speakers!), she's also incredibly thorough and patient. She knows the ins and outs of the language, and has plenty of experience teaching people who have a hard time with some of the sounds (like me!).
I love her personal examples and stories that she uses to illustrate certain points about Korean language and culture. She works with us to create a curriculum and a plan that really works for our needs, and she goes above and beyond to help us get the most out of each lesson. And she's been very flexible with our crazy schedules - contacting us ahead of time to make sure we're still on. I really enjoy working with Saehee and I would recommend her for anyone who is learning or working on Korean!
Saehee was patient and kind. She was able to find interesting, but easy history books in Korean to help me learn Korean history while reading. Awesome!
Saehee is an excellent tutor, thoroughly familiar with the subject, attentive to the needs of English-speaking students. I look forward to each session.
Saehee is amazing. She is endlessly patient, understanding, and kind. When we scheduled for our first lesson, I fell asleep and missed it. I thought that she would be mad and not want to teach me anymore but she wasn't. Instead, she allowed me to reschedule and held no ill-will. I must be one her worst students but she perseveres. Whenever I make a mistake, she calmly corrects me and we then keep going. Whenever I need help, she is eager to help and has a way of explaining things so that they make sense. And if they don't, she re-explains. Since she herself learned English as a second language, she is sympathetic to the struggles of the learner. She has sheer determination to make sure you learn. She once asked a stranger if she could share a table just so we could have our lesson. She has all those aspects that make a great teacher, dedication, knowledge, kindness, and above all patience. I have no doubt that if I follow her instruction, I will master the Korean language in no time. I would highly recommend her to anyone who want to learn Korean with a great, supportive teacher.
Saehee is an amazing tutor. She has helped me grasp many concepts that I couldn't understand when I was trying to learn Korean by myself. She has been very through, understanding, and patient (like when I accidentally said the classroom was delicious) and has been very flexible with my chaotic schedule.
I would recommend using Saehee as a tutor if you are trying to learn Korean by yourself with not much luck. And, being a native, she is able to teach on a personal level that a book alone cannot. And, as someone who has learned English as a second language, she knows firsthand where people might struggle and what words don't mix between the two languages. Like, for example, it's extremely rude to refer to someone as "you" in Korea.
We are very pleased after our first meeting with Saehee. She has been very responsive and flexible, is a native Korean speaker, and is very friendly, focused and organized. She takes time before the lesson (through a questionnaire) to ensure that she is ready to focus on the actual lesson as soon as you meet, and learning starts immediately!
Saehee is without a doubt the best language instructor I have ever had the pleasure of working with. Patient, caring, funny, all around great person to be around and teacher. Anybody who is considering learning Korean and about Korean culture look no further. Thank you for everything Saehee.
Saehee is so supportive. I had absolutely no experience with Korean and I have to learn it in quite a short time. Saehee developed a personalized lesson plan by our first meeting that included vocabulary grammar and culture for me to approve of. Throughout our lessons she carefully explains all the parts and goes at a great pace so I can learn as much as possible. She always answers all my questions no matter how technical they get. She also does a great job of teaching correct pronunciation. I would recommend her to anybody who wants to learn Korean in a fun and efficient way!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
