I have over eight years of experience in education, including as a classroom teacher and tutor. As a public school teacher, I've taught English/Language Arts in grades 7 through 12 and Spanish in grades 9-12. I also worked with students from Kindergarten through fourth grade in Spanish literacy and English language development (ESL). I taught English as a second language to adult learners through an immersion program and worked as an English language conversation partner.

I earned my Bachelor's degree in English with a minor in Spanish from the University of Central Florida in Orlando, where I graduated Magna cum Laude. I went on to earn my Master of Arts in Education in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Secondary English Education from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. Upon completion of that program, I received a Meritorious New Teacher Candidate designation in recognition of my exceptional performance throughout the teacher preparation program.

My tutoring methods vary to meet the needs of my students. I can assist with studying and assignments from school or, with advance notice, I can prepare a curriculum to address target areas. As a tutor, I've worked with students from all grade levels in vocabulary acquisition, academic reading, and academic writing, as well as SAT test prep for the reading and writing portions. I tutor multiple subjects at the college level, including education, history, Spanish, and English, primarily focusing on the writing process and essay revision and editing.

In addition to academic subjects, I can provide tutoring and instruction in basic computer skills and web design. I have experience in content writing, search engine optimization, and social media management.

I am familiar with the contents of the Bible as well as the history of its production, translations, and publications. I own several versions of the Bible and enjoy exploring the nuances of each. I spent a summer as a day camp counselor through Lutheran Outdoor Ministries of Florida (LOMF); through this I led Bible study lessons for children from Kindergarten to eighth grade. I have taught Sunday School classes and served as a Bible study leader and mentor for middle school confirmation students and high school students. My approach to Bible study is one of reflection and thoughtful analysis of the applications to modern life.

Excellent tutor!

We have just moved to the US. The kids are familiar with the English language, but English is not their native language. We found Jessica searching for an appropriate tutor for our kids. Her experience impressed us. And we haven't been wrong. We have discovered Jessica to be a great tutor, very nice with the kids, knowing how to teach them lessons while playing with them. Imagine that the little one was so shy at the beginning that he did not speak too much. After two lessons, both kids are waiting for the day when Jessica comes. They are happy to work with her and to do their homework. I definitely recommend her. She is really great!

Thank you Jessica.

Jessica, I would like to thank you for your help in my IELTS. You know it takes time for an ESL person to get experienced to reach to the required score in these academic tests, but you put my hands on my challenging points. You helped me arrange my thoughts and not to repeat myself in my speech, and your help to pass that test was really appreciated. I am very glad to have had you as a tutor. Thank you again.
