Metropolitan State College of Denver, (Chemistry)
I have been an educator for 12 years. Tutoring is much more rewarding than teaching because I can focus on the specific needs of the individual student, staying on an area, teaching multiple ways, until the student understands it well. My passion is to impart knowledge and understanding to the youth, and the greatest skill that I want to teach them is critical thinking.
Do you want your child to excel in school or do they need help catching up with their classmates? By using me as their tutor, we can have them advance in their studies even beyond the rest of their class. This will also prepare them for college. They will not need to take remedial classes at college tuition prices and may even be able to test out of courses, which would also save on tuition. If they are taking AP classes in high school, using me as their tutor will help them to succeed in those classes.
I have taught in public middle and high schools as a substitute teacher. As a secondary science and math teacher I taught Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Astronomy, and Physics. I have tutored Chemistry to a high school student and an adult wanting a career change. Having majored in Chemistry and minored in Biology I have a solid science and math background.
Using a white board, I am able to speak the concept as I draw it, so the student can follow along. I will use whichever curriculum you desire.
Thinking critically is important to me, so I will always press the student to do just that in all their work. This prepares them to solve any problem, not just in the subject I am teaching.
The subjects that I am capable of teaching include: Algebra; Trigonometry; Pre-Calculus; Geometry; General Science; Chemistry; Biology; Physics; Calculus; Astronomy; I have been an educator for 12 years. Robert has been essential to my son's success in chemistry and geometry during his high school sophomore year. He seems to have a firm grasp of subject matter and conveys this in a patient and understanding manner. He's prompt and reliable and we have nothing but good things to say about him.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
