About Megan

I absolutely love helping students understand subjects that can be troubling. As a current college student, I understand the importance of learning and hard work and I want to try and instill that in those I tutor.

I have previous experience as a 6th grade student teacher where I specifically helped students with reading comprehension and math skills. I also worked as a student teacher in the challenged program of my high school where I helped with reading comprehension, writing skills, and math, as well as basic day-to-day socializing skills, and I've worked as leader at outdoor education schools where I spent time with twelve to thirteen year old students who learn better in non-traditional settings. These experiences were incredibly rewarding as I got to watch students grow into smart, caring young adults. I was also able to learn during my time as a student teacher - I was taught patience, listening skills, and the importance of challenge those I am teaching. Working with students in a non-traditional, outdoor setting helped me to understand that not everyone learns best in the same way; that is, it may not be that students truly don't understand a subject but rather, the subject is not being taught in the most helpful way. When I meet new students, I ask how they learn best, whether it be visually, auditory, note-taking, or other, and incorporate it into my teaching so they have the best opportunities to succeed.

I am currently a junior in college double majoring in Criminal Justice and Political Science with a pre-law emphasis. I have made the Dean's List each semester I've been in college and currently hold a 3.90 GPA. While school does keep me busy, I have a fairly flexible with my schedule. I have a reliable means of transportation and I am willing to meet at libraries, coffee shops, or another convenient location.

I look forward to hearing from you and helping you achieve your goals.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
