Colorado School of Mines (Petroleum Engineering)
I am currently working as a consultant in an Environmental Science company. I graduated as a Petroleum Engineer at Colorado School of Mines in May 2015. As you can probably guess, I specialize in math and a bit of computer science. To keep up with the academic load of engineering classes, I have developed a few tips and tricks on how to effectively study and learn throughout the years, starting from high school. I have been tutoring for the past five years, particularly in high school math and C++.
The following courses I am most proficient in, having taken them both in high school or in college:
- Algebra I/II
- Calculus I/II
College has also provided me with some experience in computer science, especially:
- Visual Basic in Microsoft Excel
I can also tutor test preparation subjects:
- SAT Math/Reading
- ACT Math/Reading
My personal SAT score was a 2100/2400.
My teaching methods varies and are mostly dependent on the student, but I generally like to incorporate both the conceptual aspect of the math problem as well as the actual steps and methodology for solving it. I place a heavy emphasis on understanding the key concepts behind the problems instead of just knowing the answer.
Because I work full time, I am a bit less flexible during the weekdays. However, I am more than willing to work out times and I do not need a lengthy amount of prior notice before cancellation. My best times are during the weeknights and the weekends. If you have any concerns or questions about my tutoring, please do not hesitate to contact me. I am always open for negotiation and special circumstances. I am currently working as a consultant in an Environmental Science company. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
