My undergraduate degree was in German Studies from Stanford University. I spent a year studying abroad--nine months near Stuttgart, Germany and three months in Vienna, Austria. I have also traveled numerous times to Germany and Austria and have a good understanding of the language and culture. Part of the German Studies major requirement was to pass a proficiency exam given by German professors.
My tutoring style is informal but always helpful. And if for some reason, I don't know an answer, I promise to find out and pass the information along.
My wife and I have four children, one of whom is getting her PhD currently from Notre Dame. She is majoring in Medieval Studies and is currently in Rome working in the Vatican Library.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I graduated from Stanford University with an MBA with a focus on Marketing. However, over the past thirty years, I have held increasingly responsible positions in management. This includes having served as the CEO or President of three different companies with revenues in excess of $100M.
With each, I utilized my background and experience to grow the company significantly in both revenue and profitability.

I can help in either conversational German (for a prospective visitor to a German-speaking country), or start from the ground up and teach you grammar, vocabulary, sentence structure, the various cases used in the language, etc.
