Lewis and Clark College (Physics)
Univerity of Utah (Master's)
I have over ten years of experience teaching and tutoring at the high school and college levels. I received my bachelor's degree in Physics from Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon, and my master's degree in Physics from the University of Utah.
Subjects I have taught include the following: Physics (Classical Mechanics, Optics, Electromagnetism, Harmonics and Wave Motion, Special Relativity, and Quantum Mechanics) and Math (Algebra [I, II, and College], Geometry, Trigonometry, and PreCalculus).
I strive to build confidence and proficiency in my students when teaching these sometimes daunting subjects. My philosophy is to teach concepts and explain fundamental principles rather than simply showing how to solve a particular problem, giving my students the skills to solve problems beyond those covered in the course material.

Daniel is always able to help with the exact needs my son has, making fuzzy concepts clear, able to explain everything, and being patient. He also stepped in at the last moment to save my son's ability to take finals with confidence.
Daniel began to teach me on occilations and waves. We first used "Doppler's Effect" to find the change in frequency of a moving object, or observer. Then we moved on to finding wave velocity from the wavelenght and period of a wave. Thanks to Daniel, I was able to get a 90% on my phisics test today. I now have a great understanding of this topic, and I owe it all to Daniel.
Daniel Made my son Quinn comfortable so that he could open up and ask questions Therefore, he clarified his learning on the subject. He helped Quinn to do his work with understanding on his own. He will continue his time with Daniel knowing it is beneficial. Thank You Daniel!
My son was failing AP Physics from the start of this year, and after working with Daniel, yesterday he received an 84 score on a test! Fantastic!
Daniel helped my son with Algebra 2 formulas. He is thorough, and writes everything down for future reference, which my son loves! Very patient and works with the student's needs in mind.
My daughter is dyslexic and requires a specific teaching style that is visual and highly methodical. The coursework Daniel worked with Leslye on is Physics which is a difficult subject matter in its own right. By the end of the 4 hour session, Leslye was working the questions well on her own and had a strong level of confidence with the Chapter work. I cannot speak enough about this first session.
We've been very happy with Daniel's ability to develop a rapport with our son and motivate him to work harder at math.
Daniel did a great job for my daughter. She felt really comfortable with him and he made a significant improvement in her grades from the first session on. She immediately felt that she understood the material much better after working with Daniel. Highly recommended.
We've used Daniel several times and he has always been excellent. On time, on subject. Fits a lot in to the time and gets on well with our boys.
Daniel is very knowledgeable. He helps my son solve the material for himself. He explains concepts so he has a better understanding. We are so happy we found a tutor such as Daniel.
Thank you very much for all that you do for our son.
We really appreciate all your efforts and because of that his math grade is improving.
Daniel has worked with our daughter on her AP Physics for 2 sessions now. He has been patient and after these two sessions, her confidence has improved and she was able to achieve a score of 92% on her quiz. We look forward to he increased confidence and scores as she continues her sessions with Daniel and are hopeful this will provide her with a stronger knowledge base going in to the AP exam. Daniel was also flexible in scheduling appointments which was very helpful in working around our daughter's work schedule.
Daniel was very helpful with my physics work! I needed a tutor on short notice and he was able to meet with me the next day. I had a D in physics and with 3 weeks of help from him, my final grade ended as a high B. He is very patient and explains the information in a very insightful way.
Very helpful with AP PHYSICS C in the very first hour he worked with my son. He cleared up confusion with clear explanations.
My daughter has been using Daniel for geometry and he is patient, understanding, and provides excellent instruction. He is also flexible and personable. Highly recommend this tutor.
Daniel tutored my son in Physics and his grade improved. My son gained a deeper understand of the material with Daniel's tutoring. Dan was easy to reach by text or phone.
Both my children really enjoy having Daniel as a math tutor. They say that he explains clearly and gave him the thumbs up. As a parent, I really like the fact that Daniel has a strong formal background in mathematics. He lets the children be independent when solving problems, but he is ready to jump in when necessary. Another thing I like is that Daniel does not focus only on homework. He also brings his different resources to explain the material. Overall, we are very pleased with him.
My son loves Daniel because he makes learning fun by making the material understandable. Daniel explains information really well. He also prompts my son to find the answer.
Daniel is my physics tutor and I recommend him highly for anyone who is struggling with physics. Daniel knows the subject well, and also knows how to teach it in a way that gives you a solid understanding of the subject matter.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
