Bio

Hi there, my name is Dylan and I'm relatively new to online tutoring but not to teaching and helping students learn. I have a Master's in Educational Psychology which focuses on how people learn as well as Psychology in general. With this understanding of the underlying way that we learn I believe I can be helpful to students studying different subjects and from different fields.

I have a Master's in Educational Psychology which focuses on how people learn as well as Psychology in general. With this understanding of the underlying way that we learn I believe I can be helpful to students studying different subjects and from different fields.

Though Psychology is my main interest I also have a minor in Biology and have always been an avid reader. One of my favorite books is Life of Pi but I enjoy most anything. I used to work as an Academic Advisor for an Honors Program at the University of Northern Colorado and really enjoyed helping these students and watching them learn. At the same time I know that not everyone is excited about every subject and hopefully we can find some way to work through this.

In all, I'm excited to dig into tutoring here and believe that finding the right teacher, tutor, or mentor can make all the difference when it comes to our education.

I enjoy the structured nature of Math and Statistics. There are steps that can be followed and lines or reasoning that eventually end in answers. They are a good mix of looking at the big picture and the intricate details of problems. I also think that having a strong Math background can make us better reasoners and debaters.

I really just have a passion for Psychology. It is a field that spans so much of what we do in everyday life and raises as many questions as it points towards answers. I like research, knowing why others and myself do what we do, and being able to understand the world at large. Though I have many favorite classes the one that rises to the top would likely be the History and Systems of Psychology.

I think reading and writing are incredibly important. They are ways to know others and to express oneself. Stories and narratives are the way we understand ourselves and the world around us. When it comes to testing, I've scored my highest on the GRE (basically the graduate version of

Having a degree in Educational Psychology means I can help people with a broad array of subjects. Learning is at the core of any subject and understanding the roots and strategies for learning can make all the difference. Beyond that, I scored within the 95% percentile on the Graduate Record Exam in writing and the 89% percentile on the reading comprehension section. The two tests are quite similar which should provide some benefit when preparing for the ACT.

Soccer

I've been playing soccer since I was very young and played through high school and college. I love the game and was in an adult league for quite some time. When it comes to coaching my main experience has been with Soccer Without Borders. As a coach I helped design drills and worked with players to help them use the individual strengths more effectively.
