Colorado School of Mines (Chemistry)
I graduated from the Colorado School of Mines. I originally thought that I would become an engineer. However, I discovered that my favorites subjects were chemistry and math. I majored in chemistry with a specialty in environmental chemistry.
My favorite area of chemistry is organic chemistry. I love being able to explain why reactions take place and demystify complex reactions. I also really enjoy spectroscopy and unknown identification because these types of problems are like puzzles.
When I tutor in chemistry or math, I want my students to be able to understand and not just memorize. I often prepare example problems and then have my students go through similar exercises. I also make time for going over tests and homework. I am very dedicated to your success but, please know that if you do not put in the time you will not succeed. Particularly in chemistry and math, practice is the most important way to gain proficiency.
I have taken calculus I, II and III, as well as differential equations. I really love math and enjoy solving the truly difficult problems. I have my degree in chemistry and i love all areas of chemistry. My favorite area of chemistry is organic chemistry and I took organic chemistry I, II, graduate level advanced organic chemistry and organic analysis and applied spectroscopy.

Eric reviewed course syllabus and prepared practice problems for the lesson. It was a very good first meeting and helpful in understanding the high concepts. Eric and my son will meet weekly. Thanks!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
