About Madison

Thank you for reviewing my profile! I am a senior at Colorado Mesa University studying secondary (7th through 12th grade) English education and will complete a Master's degree in special education. I read and write in my spare time; my favorite author is F. Scott Fitzgerald and I hope to be published someday. I would be delighted to help you refine your own reading, language, grammar, and writing skills!

I can help you with English, grammar, literature, public speaking, vocabulary, reading, essay writing, and creative writing.

I understand how difficult school can be, especially the subjects that aren't your favorite. For me, it's math and science; I have always needed extra help with those courses and I'm grateful for the teachers and tutors who helped me. Let me help you! Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions you have.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Praxis

I completed the Praxis Core for Educators exam within the past 3 months, with a grade of 188 out on a scale of 100-200 points. In preparation, I used several practice exams and information booklets provided by ETS and third-party preparation sites. I have experience in Extended School Year programs and an after school program organized through Girl Scouts of Colorado designed to prepare fifth grade girls for middle school.

Swimming

I competed from 2002-2013, including four years on the Fossil Ridge High School varsity team from 2008-2012 and one year on the Colorado Mesa University competition team from September 2012-November 2013. I was the assistant coach for the summer league Collindale Swim Team based in Fort Collins, Colorado from June-August 2013. I was a lifeguard and swim lesson instructor at the Fort Collins Club from 2008-2010.
