About Lorraine

I have taught both children and adults Spanish in both a school setting and at a night school. I believe it is imperative to create a relaxed atmosphere and provide a fun, practical approach to instruction! I have volunteered to aid Spanish speakers struggling to learn our language and speak Spanish fluently myself. I am confident assisting English speakers who need extra tutoring in their own language .

I enjoy interacting with all ages and will be sensitive to your needs!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Braille

I have passed the Braille proficiency test with the Colorado Department of Education and am registered as a teacher of the visually impaired (expires in November of 2014).

I worked in New Zealand at the Homai College school for the blind from 1980-85, was married to a blind man for 16 years and used my Braille skills frequently. I worked for the Royal New Zealand Foundation for the Blind from 1988-with some breaks until 2007.

In the USA, I worked as a teacher of the visually impaired in both Cherry Creek and Aurora school districts. I work for the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation at present and occasionally need to teach Braille.

Great Tutor

Very patient. We are both very busy and Lorraine has worked hard to make our schedules work. We are working not only on speaking but writing Spanish as well.
