I am qualified to teach this range of courses because I completed a MS in Biology at Indiana University of PA, I also studied Biochemistry at the graduate level for two years at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, and completed a BS in Physical Science with a concentration in Chemistry at Auburn University in Montgomery. In addition, I was employed for four years as a Pharmaceutical Chemist, and employed for one year as a Research Assistant at Duke University.

I look forward to hearing from students struggling with biology and chemistry at both the High School and College level. I am sure I can help with problem concepts. I am available afternoons and most evenings.

Biology,

Biology

I have a BS in Physical Science with a concentration in Chemistry, two years of graduate work in Biochemistry, an MS in Biology, and 10 years teaching experience at a community college. While teaching, I was involved with an educational community in Pennsylvania that promoted constructivist teaching methods for high school students. More recently, I tutored a Colorado high school student in 10th grade Biology.
Chemistry

Chemistry

I am qualified to tutor chemistry because my BS degree in Physical Science was concentrated in chemistry. My graduate courses and research in biochemistry filled the remaining chemistry gaps, and completed my chemistry background. After leaving graduate school, I worked as an analytical and pharmaceutical chemist. This combination of education and professional experience qualified me to teach chemistry at the college level at Saint Francis College, the University of Pittsburgh Johnstown, and Pennsylvania Highlands Community College.

Just what I was looking for in a chemistry tutor

Lisa met our family at a local coffee shop and was wearing a name tag so we could easily find her in the crowd. Lisa listened while I explained my daughter's current issues with chemistry. She was very professional. During the tutoring session, Lisa explained concepts well and gave my daughter practice problems to work while she supervised. My daughter feels she understands electron configuration much better now. Lisa knows chemistry *and* most importantly, she knows how to effectively communicate those ideas to others.
