In my opinion, there is nothing more rewarding than seeing a student's face light up when they finally get a grasp on a complicated subject. As a biology lover myself, I get very excited about introducing students to the cool and exciting aspects that got me interested in the subject to begin with.

I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to tutor students throughout the entirety of my graduate school experience. I started working in the Anatomy and Physiology Tutoring Lab during my first semester at the University of Indianapolis (UIndy). Even after I was no longer officially employed by the Tutoring Lab, I would frequently pop in to help out students, especially as exams drew near and the lab grew more crowded. I served as a Teaching Assistant for several Anatomy and Physiology courses during my time at UIndy and these courses ranged from introductory undergraduate courses all the way to master's level graduate courses. During my final two semesters at UIndy, I was able to teach two courses of my own: Basic Human Anatomy and Principles of Human Physiology. Those final two semesters really solidified my love of teaching, and I really hope to continue inspiring and educating students for years to come.

Not only do I have degrees in Anthropology and Human Biology, but I have a considerable amount of experience working in Gross Anatomy Labs; I even got to serve as a Teaching Assistant for a Medical School Gross Anatomy course during my final year of graduate school! I have also spent several years working as a Field Technician performing various Archeological surveys throughout the Midwest. I think that I have a great mix of classroom and real world / field experience, and that should enable me to provide my students with a complete picture of the material being studied. I think it is essential for students to not only have a tutor who is knowledgeable on the subject matter, but also one who can provide them with a realistic outlook on possible career paths; school is, after all, just meant to prepare s

Anthropology

Anthropology

My degree came from a "four fields" program in which Archaeology, Biological/Physical Anthropology, Cultural Anthropology, and Linguistic Anthropology were all equally emphasized. I further chose to specialize in Biological/Physical Anthropology, focusing on human anatomy, physiology, and evolution. I have 3+ years of field experience working on various Archaeological surveys and excavations. While my focus is primarily biological, my educational experiences were diverse, thus enabling me to teach the subject as a whole rather than just one of the four subfields of Anthropology.

Biology

Biology

I have taken a wide variety of biology courses throughout my undergraduate and graduate tenures, but the majority of my experience is in anatomy, physiology, cell biology, molecular biology, genetics, and evolution. I served as a tutor, a teaching assistant, and an adjunct instructor for undergraduate, graduate, and medical school anatomy/physiology courses during my M.S. studies at the University of Indianapolis, so I have a good amount of experience teaching as well!

Anatomy

I have taken numerous anatomy courses throughout both my undergraduate and graduate tenures. I have even had the opportunity to teach A&P during the last two semesters of my M.S. education. I have also served as an anatomy and physiology teaching assistant for undergraduates, graduates, and medical students. Finally, I spent several semesters helping students in the Anatomy and Physiology Tutoring Center throughout the entirety of my M.S. studies.

Archaeology

Outside of my classroom experiences, I was fortunate enough to spend 3+ years working for the Center for Archaeological Investigations at Southern Illinois University. My field experiences included both Phase I (surveys) and Phase II (excavations) projects; these experiences introduced me to techniques that ranged from shovel-testing all the way to detailed site mapping. My lab experiences included artifact cleaning, curation, database digitization, and mapping.

I have taken several mammalian physiology courses during my undergraduate and graduate studies. I got to serve as a tutor, a teaching assistant, and eventually even an adjunct instructor for various physiology courses during my M.S. studies at the University of Indianapolis. Excited to work with Jacob!

Jacob had lots of good ideas for studying and is willing to help with practice questions. We have only had one session so far but will schedule more because he will be a great resource!

Rebecca, 4 lessons with Jacob

He is very understandable and patient

Human physiology, the lab and how to concept and analysis and also answer the questions. He is my favorite tutor right now because he understands what is going on and he makes sure that I understand what is going on also, he is very patient and makes sure you get the questions before he moves on. I highly recommend him
