About Kristen

I double majored in Elementary education, and Special Education in 2015. Teaching has always been a passion of mine. I enjoy seeing kids grasp a concept, and see them pick up new interests through creative learning.

I love teaching all subjects, but understand the importance of instilling basic math concepts along with reading and writing skills to succeed in a classroom. I have always tried to incorporate the students' interests into lesson plans, this way they are engaged and enjoy the learning process. I have noticed with this teaching style, my students are very productive, are constantly wanting to be challenged, and believe in themselves. I approach tutoring with the same style.

I have extensive tutoring experience in a variety of fields for ages K-8. I assess all my students and plan individual lesson plans that pertain to their interest. I am always finding new resources/ teaching techniques to implement into sessions, this way the children can see a variety of ways to learn one concept. I tend to assign a short assignment (about 30 minutes of work) each tutor session reviewing what we worked on that lesson. This has proven to help the students retain the information that we learned from the session. I look forward to working together to help your child succeed!

I have taught 3rd grade common core math and understand it is difficult for most students (and parents) to grasp the concepts. Also, I have a wide variety of resources on how to teach math for elementary ages.

Most of my tutoring in the past have been for students who struggle with reading. I work on improving reading speed, comprehension skills, and summarizing.

I have a degree in Elementary Education that I received from UWS in 2015. I taught 3rd grade in Minnesota for a year before I moved to Colorado.

I have a degree in Special Education from UND that I got in 2014. I student taught in a profound autistic classroom in Minnesota for a year. Here I learned a wide variety of techniques to teach the students, along with some sign language so I was able to communicate to them with their primary language.

i am a passionate teacher who enjoys helping children learn. Whether you want your child to learn lessons ahead of time, or needs further assistance in certain areas I am the tutor for you! With good communication, I am certain that we can have a successful tutoring experience.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I have a degree in Special Education. I worked in a profound autistic classroom for a year. That year I learned a lot on different techniques on teaching students with autism.

Elementary (K-6th)

I am qualified for K-6th because I received my Elementary Education degree in 2015 from UWS. I have taught 3rd grade and tutored many students in elementary for all subjects the last 2 years. I have always had a passion for teaching younger children; it's the age they are still excited to learn, an age where you can make a difference in their education.

Handwriting

I have 2 degrees in education. I have taught cursive to 3rd graders and know techniques on teaching regular handwriting.

Homeschool

I have an Elementary education degree and a Special education degree. I have taught a year and tutored many years varying ages. I know where to find lesson plans and teach common core if that is necessary.

Reading

3 bachelor degrees in education. worked with students in the past on reading comprehension

Special Needs

I am qualified to teach children with special needs because I received my degree in Special Education in 2014. I worked in a profound autistic room which had 8 students for a year. In that time I learned many unique techniques; such as light therapy, on how to properly educate students with Autism. I am patient, calm, and supportive when teaching, which is crucial when educating students who have a disability.

Study Skills

I have a degree in elementary education. I have helped my students study with many tests on different topics. I also helped them study for major state tests.
