Colorado State University (Chemistry)
I specialize in tutoring high school and college-level general chemistry, including AP and CLEP Chemistry exams. I also tutor in organic chemistry, and can teach physical, analytical, and inorganic chemistry. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, and have successfully completed five years of chemistry coursework, resulting in a strong foundation in general and organic chemistry. I've tutored classmates and other students throughout high school and college and am passionate about helping students cultivate an understanding of and appreciation for chemistry!
My goal for each session is to help you further your understanding of the subject - I want you to be challenged, but not frustrated with the material. I typically like to work on the material you're assigned in class rather than assigning more homework, but I can certainly give additional practice problems and periodic assessments if desired.
I'd love to help you with chemistry, whether you have a question about a reaction mechanism, need assistance with periodic trends, or want a lab report proofread. If I can't answer your question immediately, I'll schedule a lesson with you and research the topic on my own time - my priority is to help you learn and understand. My availability currently changes from week to week, but please feel free to contact me - together we can find a time to learn! Chemistry Pre AP... she was excellent in communicating the work and helping my daughter grasp the material. My daughter said I learned so much in an hour mom! Thank you so much!! Will definitely use and highly recommend again!
10/10 would recommend. I was very confused concerning reaction mechanisms in organic chemistry, and Hanna, very patiently, worked with me in drawing them (sometimes even 2-3 times). She researched the mechanisms after our first tutoring session, and was adept at explaining them to me. I felt immensely better after a tutoring session with her; she's very knowledgeable!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Before completing a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, I successfully completed both Pre-AP Chemistry and AP Chemistry, earning a 5 on the AP Exam. I have an exceptionally strong foundation in general chemistry, as I have completed three full years of coursework with A's. I have tutored Chem 111 and Chem 113 at CSU for several semesters, and they remain some of my favorite courses to tutor.
During the course of my Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, I successfully completed a two-semester sequence of organic chemistry, during which I routinely tutored several classmates in a group setting by reviewing reagents and reaction mechanisms. I have also completed three semesters of organic chemistry laboratory course, including an advanced organic lab focused on synthesis. Since completing my degree, I have started an in-depth review of with the intention of pursuing an independent study in graduate-level organic synthesis.
