I have been an educator for 7 years. I have been a small group/individual tutor at an elementary school for 3 years. In this capacity, I worked with second, third and fourth graders. I am currently going into my third year of teaching Kindergarten. This past spring I completed my Certificate of Literacy through Regis University.
I have always had a passion for working with children. It is my goal to provide students with academic support while building confidence. I use a variety of activities and resources. I will create lessons to target specific literacy needs. For younger students, I help students master the basic building blocks that make readers successful. I offer a variety of fast paced activities; thus, holding the attention and interest of students. I believe that learning should be fun!

I have experience with individual and small group tutoring in literacy and math. I use a variety of resources including Handwriting Without Tears, Marie Rippel Reading Program, Reading A to Z.
I have specifically taught phonics for 2 years using through hands-on activities (tiles, games, etc.).

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
A am a former dance teacher of ballet, tap and jazz. I was a dancer myself beginning when I was 12. I am still very involved in the dance world. I observe regional conventions where I see professionals teach lessons to students.
I hold a Colorado Professional Teaching License, and I am certified to teach grades Kindergarten through sixth grade. I am a former fourth and fifth grade teacher. I have worked with all grade levels including kindergarten through fifth grade.
I am Certified in General Elementary Education. I served as a math tutor/interventionist for second and fourth graders at an elementary school. I like to present math concepts in a variety of ways to help students make a connection to what "makes sense" to them.
I currently teach handwriting to kindergarten students using the Handwriting Without Tears curriculum.
I teach kindergarten where the focus is on letter recognition and sounds. Beginning with individual letters and sounds, students later blend and manipulate sounds. I use the Marie Rippel curriculum.
