Colorado State Univeristy (Piano Performance)
Hello all! My name is Eric. I hope I get to serve you soon! I studied Piano Performance at Colorado State University, graduating in 2015. I have now been playing piano for 15 years. While studying there, I taught for a couple summers, helping some people get started on their own musical journey. I have led a high school choir, teaching them a piece from scratch and performing it with them on-stage. I have also performed in choirs for 7 years.
I love tutoring in music because music is a personal experience. It means something different to everyone. I hope to provide what knowledge I have so that you can become the musician you want to be. Then you can take your music in whatever directions suits you best throughout your life!
Singing in choirs for 7 years, I developed a strong ear and sight-singing ability. A lot of my choir conductors emphasized learning these so that picking up and understanding vocal music would be as easy as possible. And I graduated with a degree in Piano Performance, having now studied piano for 15 years. I am aiming to make my career performing piano in soundtracks. The piano gives a huge advantage in music theory in that you learn to read both clefs and work a wide musical range.
I look forward to meeting you! If you are looking at improving your musical ability or furthering your love of this wonderful art, then I can definitely be of service to you! Please feel free to get in touch with me so that we can get you started right away! Thank you so much for your consideration! Hello all! My name is Eric. I hope I get to serve you soon! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Ear Training is a skill I honed participating in high school and university-level choirs. It is also taught at Colorado State University to each music student, giving me lots of opportunities to practice ear training.
I made sure I understood ear training, so that I could help my fellow students get a better grasp of it. I showed them different ways to think about the distance between different pitches, and that helped them become more comfortable with ear training.
Music was my focus throughout high school and university. I have taught a high school choir a number of choral pieces and performed with them as the conductor. And at university, my fellow students were coming to me for advice on how to improve their music. I describe musical concepts in language that people can understand, helping anyone on their musical journey!
I studied Piano Performance from Colorado State University, receiving my Bachelor's degree. While I was at school, other piano students were coming to me for advice on musicianship, being accurate with the score, learning, and memorizing their music. I have a lot of experience helping people through their musical journey, both through helping fellow students and teaching my own students over the summer vacations.
With seven years of choral experience at the high school and university level, I had a lot of time to become comfortable with Sight Singing. I always aimed to learn my choral music as fast as I could, so that I would be able to help others. Sight Singing was a great way to start being able to go through any song, and I show you how to use ear training to be able to sight-sing!
