Hello! I am excited to get the opportunity to tutor students who need help in math. I graduated from Illinois State University in 2014. I graduated with a secondary mathematics degree in education. I tutored mathematics at ISU at the developmental math office. During my last year at ISU I was part of a a year long student teaching program called PDS (professional developmental school). I student taught at Normal Community High School in Normal, IL. This offered me a whole year in the classroom versus the traditional semester in the classroom. I got the chance to teach geometry, algebra, and trigonometry during my student teaching. Following graduation, I took a year and substitute taught and tutored students privately. I then went back to school to get my middle school endorsement in mathematics and now am certified to teach middle and high school students. I have plenty of experience tutoring one on one with students. I really try and focus on their thinking and how they approach problems to see exactly where is it that we need to work on.
I do prefer to see or know what I am tutoring before each session so that I ensure I am ready to tutor during in the hour of need. I like to be prepared and not waste the time that we have to learn together. Please email me if I am able to meet your needs. Hello! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
