I have been a professional ballet dancer and teacher for over 20 years, and also have a Master's degree in Botany with experience working as a contractor for the forest service, so I will explain the tutoring services I offer for these diverse fields in separate paragraphs. I love teaching and sharing each student's mission to understand and succeed in their endeavors. I strive to explain concepts in a variety of ways so as to help each student find the "lightbulb" moment.
I have taught classical ballet for many years. I emphasize clean technique, expressive arms and head, musicality, and an understanding of the body's abilities and limitations. I encourage varied body types to learn ballet, teaching them to execute the technique with minimal risk of injury. I have taught beginning through advanced levels of ballet for ages 5 through adult and believe no one is too old to start! I have a particular knack for helping people find and understand proper alignment which makes everything else happen more easily in ballet. I have a deep passion for the art which I enjoy passing on to my students.
Having graduated Magna cum laude with my Bachelor's degree in Psychology, and completing my Master's in Botany with a 4.0 GPA, I know what it takes to be successful in school. My graduate coursework involved many biology, systematics, ecology, genetics, chemistry (from basic to organic to biochem) and plant identification classes. I was a teaching assistant in plant identification, plant systematics and plant biology classes and a research assistant working in the herbarium. I have a strong understanding of genetics and evolutionary biology. I enjoy working with students to help them grasp these often challenging concepts.
I have always been strong in math skills and am confident in teaching math through the level of algebra. Although I have taken and succeeded in higher level math classes, I have not used it in many years, so I have forgotten most of it.
Writing skills have always been something at which I have excelled and I have had several papers published - one from my undergraduate years, and several from my graduate studies. I have also done newspaper writing and had poetry published, so I can assist students with a wide variety of writing tasks. I have excellent editing skills as well.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have had extensive training in classical ballet. I have danced professionally and taught classical ballet for over 20 years. My teaching is based upon a modified Vaganova (Russian) syllabus. I primarily work with students ages 10 and up through adults.
I have a master's degree in botany. During my graduate program I was a teaching assistant in a number of different botany classes. I have been doing contract work for the forest service as a botanist for the past 5 years.
I have a master's degree in botany, with an emphasis in systematics. This involves an extensive understanding of genetics and evolutionary biology. I have studied genetics both on an individual level and at the population level.
