You will learn more quickly and efficiently in our tutoring sessions to save you time and money. I emphasize teaching the student to comprehend the concept of each problem and instructing them the easiest ways to get to a solution rather than relying on pattern identification or memorization.
I customize each session to the individual student’s learning style and recognize there are many ways to teach and be taught. I can provide assistance on regular schoolwork or preparation for a standardized test. I also have experience working with children with special needs. I get to know the student and adapt his/her interests to the task at hand.
I have experience with Math, English, Economics, Law, Government, Civics, SAT tests and GRE tests.
I received my Bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Irvine in political science with an emphasis in constitutional law. While attending undergraduate school, I was invited to join Pi Sigma Alpha, a prestigious national honor society for political science majors. I earned my Master’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin in public administration and management with an emphasis on policy development.
I am California CBEST certified. This is a test all public school teachers must pass in order to teach in California. Ed was patient and encouraging with my student who is very shy and anxious. I'm looking forward to having the two of them working together.
He reintroduced me to concepts of mathematics I had forgotten in the years since I graduated college that will be important on the GRE. He told me about the test and the tricks and strategies to get a higher score. He is a good tutor, good at explaining and teaching.
I was having difficulties with Econ 306 before I met Ed. However, as soon as we started our lessons I feel like I improved my understanding to the class significantly. Ed was very patient with me as I didn't understand much at the beginning. I can definitely say that I feel much more confident for my upcoming final. He also taught me how to properly tackle problem sets and how to use the textbook to my advantage, something I did not do before. Thank you Ed, I will definitely be in touch. Looking forward to our many coming meetings hopefully.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I attended a 2-year Bible School program focusing on youth ministries and public speaking. Over 1200 hours of Bible Study practice time were required. I am extremely knowledgeable about details in the New Testament, interpretations of Bible stories, church history, and other Bible resources (concordance, ministry books, etc).
I have extensive international travel and extended family overseas. I have taught many relatives the basics of English. I have served as a regular volunteer church counselor for children who have English as a second language.
