University of Colorado Boulder (Spanish)
Universtiy of Colorado at Denver (Master's)
I absolutely love teaching languages. I started speaking Spanish roughly 12 years ago and have since studied and practiced it. I graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder with a degree in Spanish. Over the past few years I have taught after school Spanish to elementary school children and spent my summers teaching Spanish at summer academic programs for high school students. I enjoy being able to help students generate a better understanding of the Spanish language. I encourage a lot of practice in my teaching in order for students to become confident in their Spanish writing, reading and speaking.
I have experience teaching elementary school children as well as high school age. I have taught after school Spanish for several years and taught at the University of Colorado for a summer program that included teaching students in class, but providing extra help and tutoring outside of class. I graduated from the University of Boulder with a BA in Spanish for the Professions (a major that incorporates the Spanish language into cultural and business settings). I spent time abroad in Rosario, Argentina where I studied the language and culture. Recently I finished an internship in Valencia, Spain where I gained more experience with the Spanish language and culture.
Starting this year I will be pursuing a Master's degree in Education and Human Development as well as gaining my Colorado Teaching license.
I pride myself in being relatable to my students. I know how difficult it can be to learn a language in school as I have learned several this way. I'm available for all levels of Spanish at any age! Mandy taught Spanish to our high schooler, and worked quickly during an emergency tutoring sessions. Flexible and understanding! We recommend her to anyone who needs tutoring.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
