In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. I have been teaching and using Maya for 3D animation for 15 years. I presently teach Maya at the Colorado Institute of Art as an Adjunct Instructor and have been doing that for the last 3 years. Prior to that I was the director of the 2D & 3D animation programs at the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design.
