My enthusiasm for teaching and learning transfers to my students! I want to share with others how empowering knowledge can be. With two degrees (BA and MA) in Religious Studies (with concentrations in history, sociology and Native American studies), I am an expert in the humanities and writing sciences. I have years of experience in writing research papers in multiple styles/formats (i.e. MLA, APA, Chicago) and love to teach how to craft a polished and effective research paper, and all of the components therein: bibliography, internal citations, footnotes, formatting, etc.

I have experience teaching and tutoring literacy, language arts, reading, social studies and writing to adult students studying to obtain their GED, and years of experience teaching and tutoring writing, reading, and speaking English to all levels of adult ESL learners seeking to better their English language skills. I have a special love of grammar, and believe that it is not emphasized enough in education today! I am also an experienced writer, not only in the academic style, but also in creative writing, especially poetry and short stories. I love making learning fun, and I've been told by teachers and students that I have a special way of explaining things that "makes sense" and makes the information stick! I love helping students achieve that "I get it!" moment. I also know that no two learners are the same, and we all have our own learning styles. I look forward to exploring this with you.

My tutoring style and strategy is catered to each individual student. I take the time to get to know you and your personal goals, as well as your learning styles and current study strategies. This way, I can help you achieve your goals and improve upon your habits, using your strengths and improving upon your weak spots.

I look forward to helping you prepare for the ACT, SAT, GED, or any homework and tests you may have coming up! When I took the ACT in 2008, I got a perfect score of 36 in Reading, and 34 in English. I can also help you with the most effective test-taking strategies so that you can enter the test cool, calm and collected and truly show how much you know.
