Colby College (Biology - BA)
I am a retired teacher from Brewster Academy and have tutoring experience in the sciences, primarily chemistry and biology from the high school level to the first two years of college. I have tutored three years at the College of Coastal Georgia and three at the Community College of Denver. My wife and I currently live in the Denver area of Colorado.
My strength as a tutor is that I am able to provide a straightforward, understandable approach to problem solving in science as well as math. I have several handout study guides that detail manageable steps in dealing with these challenging concepts. My approach is always positive and supportive and I strive to make students feel comfortable and acknowledged.
Students and their parents will not be invoiced if they are not completely satisfied with my tutoring. I monitor my e-mail every day so I will be able to respond quickly to any inquiry. I am happy to reschedule any tutoring time with a 24 hour notice.
I am willing to travel to a student's home, but in order to ensure a quiet environment I suggest meeting at a local library or available space at a school.
I look forward to hearing from you and helping you master the challenging academic concepts you are facing.

Timothy worked with my daughter on biology concepts and was very patient and really helped her to understand. She is feeling more confident now and ready for her next quiz! He is also a great education coach and helped her to find ways to strengthen her relationship with her regular teacher. Thank you!!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
My experience includes teaching genetics as part of an advanced biology course and passing my college genetics course in college. I was a biology major at Colby College in Waterville, Maine. I graduated in 1967 and have been teaching in the sciences since that time.
