Metropolitan State University of Denver (Biology Chemistry)
My name is Brenna and I am an experienced Biology, Chemistry and Math tutor. I have worked for Metropolitan State University of Denver Student Academic Success and Tutoring Center for four years and have been the Lead Tutor over Biology for two years. I recently graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry and I am currently taking a year off and applying for graduate programs. I believe in approaching problems logically to cultivate independent learning. I also employ analogies to take abstract concepts and apply them to real life in order to make them feel more tangible. I believe the best way to learn is to apply all three learning styles (visual, auditory and kinesthetic) as well as the two types of memory (crystalline and fluid). I really love science and look forward to sharing my enthusiasm with all of my students.

Our daughter enjoys working with Brenna. Brenna interprets the work in a way that's easier for her to understand. She does this with patience and kindness.
Brenna was an awesome tutor for my daughter in Chemistry. Very patient, funny and at ease helping. My daughter really enjoyed her and learned a lot. I would highly recommend her.
Brenna helped our Daughter prepare for her Honors Pre-Calc class. Our Daughter had a good experience in the classroom, she felt much more confident and sure of herself.
We have had Brenna supporting our daughter since October 2014 and the sessions are proving to be well worth the effort and time spent. Our daughter's grade has increased two steps in four months. The sessions are getting shorter too, and this is showing directly by our daughter improving not only her knowledge, but also her comprehension and speed. Brenna is very qualified and our daughter is always excited and ready for the session that she and Brenna set up together.
Brenna always goes the distance and beyond to help get the concepts across, or drive in a snowstorm for an 8:00 pm session.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have worked at the Metropolitan State University of Denver Student Academic Success and Tutoring Center for 4 years, Chemistry is our second most common subject tutored so I tutored it the most out of all my subjects, I took 2 years of IB Chemistry in High School, General Chemistry I at Colorado State University and then General Chemistry II at MSU Denver.
I have a Bachelors or Science in Biology from MSUDenver. I have taken two genetics classes and have tutored genetics at the MSUDenver tutoring center for three years. I have tutored the concepts of mitosis, meiosis, pedigrees, and punnett squares most frequently. I really enjoyed genetics and got a high grade in this class.
