Hello, my name is Dan! I have been in the software engineering industry for 30 years and have a passion for anything related to the STEM fields. I tutored in both high school and at university, and have mentored team members throughout my career. In addition, I partnered with a non-profit that specialized in assisting adults with college education, allowing them to further their employment goals. My tutoring experience includes computer science at the university level as well as mathematics and other sciences through the high school level. When tutoring, I believe in finding practical, real-world examples, whenever possible, to make a subject relevant.

My goal is not only to help students succeed, but to ensure they master the subject to their fullest potential. After homeschooling my two children through high school, tutoring them through several of their college courses, and coaching multiple sports teams, I have a solid understanding of different teaching methods and learning styles. I will do my best to get to know you and your particular learning style and tailor my tutoring accordingly. I want to work with you to deepen your understanding, not just help you muddle through.

I have 30 years of experience as a software engineer working in such diverse areas as defense, multimedia and storage. I have conducted research in artificial intelligence and speech recognition. I have a B.S. in Computer Science with significant coursework at the Master's level. I have a minor in Mathematics with an emphasis in applied mathematics. I also have several years of education in Electrical Engineering entailing a broad education in the sciences.

I have very flexible availability and will quickly respond to any student requests and queries about potential tutoring. I am happy to answer any questions you might have about how I can help you as a tutor and would love for you to schedule a tutoring session.

Helps me work through tough programming problems!

Experience is one of the best assets you can have as a person especially when you are teaching programming to someone who is still a beginner. He can work through problems along with you and can explain his reasoning behind it. This is something is invaluable for someone who is developing the programming logic.
