Hello, my name is Hannah and I am excited to help you reach your academic goals, whatever they might be! I am a recent graduate of the Colorado School of Mines where I obtained both a Master's degree in Nuclear Engineering and Bachelor's degree in Engineering Physics, where I graduated with honors. During my time at Mines, I took some classes that absolutely changed my life for the better. These were usually the classes where the material didn't always make sense at first, but the teachers were willing to try and explain things in a variety of ways until it did make sense. I have adopted this approach when it comes to tutoring as well. I started tutoring my friends in high school as they asked for help, and eventually began tutoring as my job in college. I started my sophomore year of school as a teaching assistant for the introductory physics course where I worked with a large class of students (about 70) in their lab setting, as well as offered homework and test prep help one-on-one in the evenings. Then I became the physics tutor for our academic services department, where I created worksheets, filmed instructional videos, and worked with students one-on-one and in small groups of about 5-10. In my time working as a tutor, I have had the opportunity to encounter a variety of different learning styles, so I work to make sure that I am communicating with my students in a way that works most effectively for them, instead of just explaining material in one way. I will work to understand where the student needs assistance, then create a plan that gives time to learn and talk about the material and also practice and apply the concepts. My biggest goal is to help students learn to enjoy what they are doing, since education and learning is a huge component to future success in life!

Math has been my favorite subject since I can remember, and I have taken some of the most advanced classes available at my university. Math is a subject that takes a lot of practice to help you understand the processes, and builds on itself as students move forward. Having a very strong math foundation is critical to current and future success, so I love creating plans that help students move forward in difficulty as they master the material. I have three years of experience tutoring introductory physics, and it is a subject I am extremely passionate about. In addition, since I attended a STEM focused school, I took classes in several disciplines of science. Chemistry was the degree I started college pursuing, so I took several chemistry classes and have learned a range of skills to help students tackle this subject. Physics is my specialty, since I do have 3 years of experience tutoring physics, and took advanced classes over my time in university obtaining my degrees. In my major, I also spent a great deal of time working with different computer programs to complete projects and assignments. When you get down to it, computer programming is all about logic and understanding processes, a skill that I have learned and am able to communicate to students trying to understand computer programming on a deeper level.

I am passionate about tutoring and helping students master material, no matter what their level of understanding is, as well as be excited about learning. My years of tutoring experience and positive attitude will make your learning experience a great one! I am very flexible with my schedule and will reply quickly to messages and requests. I look forward to hearing from you and helping you achieve your goals!

Extremely knowledgable, patient and easy-going!

Hannah has been tutoring our daughter in both calculus and physics. My daughter absolutely loves her and we are already seeing improvement. With Hannah's help the past couple of weeks we have seen higher quiz/test scores and (fingers crossed) possibly a full grade level improvement when report cards are issued. Thanks Hannah!
