About Jeff

Hello! I worked as an engineer in the oilfields for the last 6 years and wanted to move back to Denver to start a teaching career. A lot of times students have trouble with math because they don't see the practical application of what they are doing. Well, with all the wild things I've seen and had to do math on in the field, I can say that math is in literally everything you do, so if you think you don't need math because "you'll never use it," you can't run that fast! From driving a car to buying groceries to planning time budgets, those are just a few examples of things you do every day that require math.

I've helped a lot of people out with algebra and physics over the years, so those are my strong points. Working with many different groups of people in college and mentoring many folks in the workplace has given me the mental flexibility to see problems from a number of angles, and find one that the student can connect with. I look forward to working with you!!

I have coached many mentees to successful completion of tests or classes, mostly revolving around basic algebra skill sets.

A degree in chemical engineering, minors in physics and chemistry, and a passion for learning and intellectual curiosity.

Math and science are really not that scary! The great thing about them is they are consistent and there is no "magic" at play, but once you learn the tricks and see how it all works, it will seem like magic how easy it all becomes. Most subjects/concepts can be broken into smaller fundamentals, upon which the waaay advanced stuff is still founded upon, so if you have that strong foundation you can do anything! Let's get to founding!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
