My name is AJ. I am a New Mexico native and grew up speaking both Spanish and English and have been teaching high school level Spanish (including AP language) for the past 3 years. I have recently moved to Denver and am looking for the opportunity to use some spare time to continue doing what I love to do! I have mastery level skills in both Spanish and French, and also have extensive knowledge on many other subjects as well. I am a very outgoing, lively, gregarious, fun-loving kind of person, and I always have had success linking subject matter to what intrigues my students about life in general. If you can't make it relevant, you probably won't remember it 5 years from now! I really do enjoy making learning fun and know that I can teach even the most challenged learner multitudes more than they thought possible.
Growing up in both English and Spanish has given me invaluable incite as to the nuances of both languages and how they compare. Attaining advanced degrees in these subjects has allowed me to see the more formal aspects of the topic. When these two perspectives are combined, I believe they are a recipe for an extremely effective teacher.
Let's just say that grammar (in many languages) sometimes keeps me up at night, haha. I definitely know my grammar rules through and through!
I remember sitting in school in many many classes, and the ones that always stood out to me are those which had maps in them. It didn't matter if it was a map of the state, the country, or the world, I was sucked in. When it comes to geography and/or religion for that matter, I tend to have a depth of knowledge that sometimes even surprises myself.
If you need some help in languages, grammar, geography, religion, or anything else, please let me know! I love teaching and would love to have some fun in the process! Hey there,

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
