I am very interested in tutoring students in need, because I know firsthand how frustrating it is to be left behind and knowing all you need is a little help. I am originally from Colombia, South America. I have over ten years of classroom experience, over four years of tutoring and I am strongly committed to the social and academic growth and development of every student. I have had great opportunities to teach in various educational settings. I believe in constructing positive changes in student’s academic and personal lives to become successful individuals. I taught at well-known schools and universities in Colombia, South America, schools in South Carolina, and a Community College.
One of the most effective ways that I have found to encourage my students is by presenting creative, meaningful tutoring lessons that help them see things in a different way and understand topics they did not before. Therefore, my main goal for each lesson is to help my student build his/ her confidence through immediate feedback and a clear action plan. I believe that knowing where the gaps exist helps me prepare my student for success.
I am always seeking to improve as a person and as a teacher. I attained my Master's degree in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language in 2014. Following this, I started my second Master's degree at North Central University in E-Learning, which I completed in October 2015. My studies have kept me up to date in regards of the teaching and learning trends. At the same time, they have been a great opportunity for me to reflect about my teaching performances, and have equipped me to conduct language learning research.I also attained a International certification ICELT Cambridge University and British Council 2007 Training International Certification For English Language Teachers.
I have been a Spanish teacher for over six years. I have had the opportunity to teach in various educational environments from elementary to adult education. I also studied English-Spanish as my major, afterwards, I attained a Master's degree in teaching Spanish as a foreign language. Therefore, I am not only highly qualified, but a experienced teacher.
I directed a Spanish spelling bee for 4 years in a row with elementary and Middle School students, as well as prepared over 300 students to compete.
I am generally available for tutoring every day from 4:00 -9:00 pm and I can travel to a nearby library, coffee shop or meet students online. I am looking forward to hearing from you and helping you achieve success in your studies.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
