I have about six years of experience working with students of all ages, and the past five years I have been working with elementary students with special needs. I have been a reading tutor for the past two years and I have experience with several literacy programs including 6-minute solutions, Read Well, and Imagine Learning. My area of expertise is literacy, particularly reading, and it is my goal as a tutor and teacher to inspire a love of reading in my students. The way to accomplish that is a rigorous literacy curriculum that improves fluency, comprehension, and decoding abilities. I set high expectations for my students and will give them all the skills they need to succeed.

My experience and education make me an ideal tutor for students who are struggling with reading or students with special needs. I maintained a 3.8 GPA during my undergrad where I received a BA in English Literature. My Masters (graduation 2017) is in Special Education, and I am currently tutoring through Regis University. Through my past work experiences, I have become skilled at modifying lessons and providing the necessary accommodations for students who have any special learning needs.

I'd love to sit down with anyone who needs help in any area of literacy, including writing. Please also contact me using my WyzAnt email if you would need any specialized instruction. I will reply to you within 24 hours.

Special Needs

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD),

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

I have been working with students with ASD as a paraprofessional for the past four years. I understand they need to have lessons that are centered around their communication, social, motor, and spacial awareness skills, and I know how to facilitate these lessons. I am very receptive to their individual needs and I know how to respond appropriately to any problems they may have.

Special Needs

I have worked as a paraprofessional in a multi-intensive special needs room for four years. I have also been tutoring students with a reading or other learning disability through the Children's Literacy Center in Aurora for the past two years. I will have completed classes for my Masters of Ed (Spec. Ed.) this fall.
