Metropolitan State University of Denver (Political science)
I love tutoring, I find joy in teaching the minds of the next generation. My goal for tutoring is to help students find that learning not only takes times and work but can be fun too. As a current student at Metropolitan State University of Denver I know that studying techniques are something that takes a lot of work. With out the right studying skills and techniques it can be hard to succeed.
I currently attend school at Metropolitan State University of Denver, I am working toward earning a double major in Economics and Political Science. Throughout my college experience I have been tutoring my younger cousins, their friends, and neighborhood kids in math and science from ages 8 to 19. I have watched all of my students grow and improve their grades tremendously. The majority of my elementary students throughout the years have leveled up a grade level and in some instances two grade levels above where they were when we first began.
Middle School and High School students have been my best experiences. I have seen students go from failing to passing with an A. Seeing how confident the students get when they get that A, is what makes me want to continue.
Over the duration of this past summer I tutored three students, five days a week, grades: 3rd, 6th, and 9th. By creating my own summer school with another individual, I was able to create and save lesson plans and figure out how to get students to interact. Two of them had ADD and I was able to get them into the subjects.
I specialize in math and science k-12. I also have the capability of homeschooling all elementary studies. My goal for students is to interpret lessons into their style of learning. Using videos, songs, cooking, and sports are some of the things I have used in the past to get a student interested in the subject they are learning. Learning styles are different for everyone and it is important to find ways to keep the students engaged, and wanting to learn.
As additional tutoring experience I am proficient in Microsoft programs, ACT math, and ACT science. I also am fluent in Sign Language and can help students of any age become proficient.
Students should expect to receive homework every session we meet and receive frequent assessment tests. My rates are $45/hr, group rates and discounts are available, contact me for more information.
I look forward to hearing from you and helping your student grow!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
