About Pat

I enjoy teaching and working with children. My years of experience working in Special Education has given me lots of creative ways to teach and for my students to learn. Sometimes we need to stick to the school's curriculum but frequently we need to burrow in and find the need(s) that are creating extra challenges for the person learning. When we find that key(s) it really lets the person grow in so many ways. That is exciting for everyone.

I can teach basic reading, writing, math, and social studies. I have taught all of these subjects at both the pre-elementary level through high school (some in general education). It can be fun but does take work.

If you want to discuss what and how we can talk.

Phonics (Wilson), ADD/ADHD (teacher training plus family with it), Dyslexia (again teacher training and family with it), years of running Severe Special Needs Programs (head teacher) and working in Treatment Facilities with emotionally struggling teenagers.

Let's have fun working together to learn things you need for school and for life. I have experience doing this and would love to visit on how we can accomplish what you want/need to do.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
