Subjects

Business

Finance,

Finance

I explain topics in Finance through real world examples that draw on both my work as a Quantitative Analyst and my academic background. I have experience related to Asset Management, Financial Modeling, and Trading. At my undergraduate University (Hofstra) I have over 24 credits of undergraduate coursework in topics related to Finance. I continued my mastery of the subject when in December 2019 I earned my Master's in Computational Finance at Carnegie Mellon University. This program gives students a very solid background in advanced finance topics.
Macroeconomics,

Macroeconomics

Economics is an amazing subject. Economics is the social science that describes the factors that determine the production, distribution and consumption of goods and services. An effective understanding of economics is critical to both business people and investors. I explain economics by using real world examples that people can relate to.

Microsoft Excel

Microsoft Excel

Understanding Excel is crucial for all people in Business, and is absolutely a job requirement in many fields. I look to make Excel easy by explaining concepts from the roots. Once a fundamental understanding of how Excel works is established, it is relatively easy to grasp the higher level concepts. I draw my knowledge from numerous professional experiences within the Financial Industry.

Computer

C++,

C++

C++ is a very powerful programming language, and not as hard to learn as you may think! I will help you to understand not just how a AVL tree, Heap, Hashmap, Matrix, Priority Queue, or Stack works, but to understand the why you would want to use these data structures in the first place! For example, do you know why a Priority Queue is used to represent the frontier in Algorithm A-star? Do you know how a Stack can be used to solve a maze? Do you understand why searching a linked list is far slower than an AVL tree? I draw my knowledge both from having earned a Minor in Computer Science from Hofstra University, and my Masters degree in Computational Finance from Carnegie Mellon University.

Python,

Python

Python is my favorite language! If you can describe it to me, I can find a way to code it! I explain concepts in Python and programming in a simple manner that you can actually understand! To explain concepts, I draw on experiences I have had from both my professional work as a Quantitative Analyst and my studies. I have a minor in Computer Science from Hofstra University, and I earned my Master's in Computational Finance from Carnegie Mellon University. These experiences gave me a lot of hands on experience with writing Python code, and I that is what I share with you.

Statistics

Statistics is one of my favorite subjects! I make Statistics easy by using real world examples to explain the theory. I have an undergraduate degree in Mathematics with a specialization in Statistics, and I earned my Masters degree in Computational Finance from Carnegie Mellon. Combined with having to statistics almost every day as a Quant, I draw on my mastery of the subject to help guide you through the most challenging of problems.

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

Algebra is the unifying thread of all Mathematics. I make algebra easy by taking the time to go step by step through the theory. Since success in algebra 1 is critical for later courses in Mathematics, I make sure to take the time to help my students understand concepts. Often I will create practice problems for my students to help them learn. I draw my knowledge from both my undergraduate degree in Mathematics, and my masters degree in Computational Finance.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

Algebra is the unifying thread of all Mathematics. I make algebra easy by taking the time to go step by step through the theory. Since success in algebra 2 is critical for later courses in Mathematics, I make sure to take the time to help my students understand concepts. Often I will create practice problems for my students to help them learn. I draw my knowledge both from my undergraduate degree in Mathematics, and my masters degree in Computational Finance.
Calculus,

Calculus

Math is unreasonably good at modeling the natural world, and Calculus is the fundamental tool for doing it. This is why I choose to Major in Mathematics at Hofstra University, and why I continued my Studies in Carnegie Mellon's Masters of Computational Finance, earning my degree in December 2019. I make Calculus easy by taking the time to walk through the theory step by step. Whether you need help with differentiation, or vector calculus, I am confident that at the end of our tutoring session you will come to love Math like I do!
Geometry,

Geometry

Geometry is amazing subject with real world applications. But for a lot of students it can be tough at first. I look to make Geometry easy by explaining topics visually, and going through the theory step by step. I draw my knowledge from my undergraduate degree in Mathematics from Hofstra University.

Differential Equations,

Differential Equations

For a lot of Math and Engineering Majors, Differential Equations is the bane of your existence. It is often taught by professors who are very smart, but are not so great at communicating the techniques. Some professors seem to just throw an equation on the board and expect you to understand it, and others seem to be overly interested in proving things. Fortunately for me, I had a great professor for Differential Equations. He did a very good job of explaining what technique is best for solving a given type of equation, by first introducing the problem, walking through how to solve it, and then having students come up to the board in order to try and solve large equations on their own. This type of experiential learning made it very easy for me to grasp how to solve differential equations. I make differential equations easy by applying the method my professor used with me on you. I am confident after doing a session with me, you laugh when you realize how ridiculously easy differential equations are!
Discrete Math,

Discrete Math

Discrete Mathematics is important in many fields including both Computer Science and Statistics. I make Discrete Math easy by taking the time to walk through the theory step by step, and using example problems. I draw my knowledge in this field from my undergraduate degree in Mathematics & Computer Science from Hofstra University.

I look to make Geometry easy by explaining topics visually, and going through the theory step by step. I draw my knowledge from my undergraduate degree in Mathematics from Hofstra University.
Linear Algebra,

Linear Algebra

My background in numerical methods makes me a particularly potent Linear Algebra tutor. For example, how can you find the smallest eigenvalue of a 10x10 matrix? I will give you a hint, please don't try to find and solve the characteristic polynomial! For the best convergence, you will want to use the inverse power method, and be sure to update your guess for the eigenvalue on each iteration. I draw my vast numerical methods & Linear Algebra knowledge from both my undergraduate degree in Mathematics from Hofstra University, and my masters degree in Computational Finance from Carnegie Mellon University.
